TOMOYUKI SAKAKIDA

Born in Shiga Prefecture in 1976, Currently an Architect.

2001 After completing the Master’s Program in Architecture at Kyoto Institute of Technology’s Graduate School , he joined Nihon Sekkei, Inc.

2003 He established Tomoyuki Sakakida Architect & Associates, concurrently serving at Architect Kazuhiro Ishi’s Tokyo office.

2008 He co-founded the New Material Research Laboratory with contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto. He currently serves as a Visiting Professor at Kyoto University of the Arts and is officially appointed as an Oya Stone Ambassador for Utsunomiya City.

2019 He has received 28th BELCA Award and numerous awards.
His publications include Sozaikou: The Experiments of New Material Research Laboratory (Heibonsha, 2023), and Old Is New: The Work of New Material Research Laboratory (Japanese edition: Heibonsha, English edition: Lars Müller Publishers, 2021), co-authored with Hiroshi Sugimoto.

1976年滋賀県生まれ。建築家。

2001年京都工芸繊維大学大学院建築学専攻博士前期課程修了後、株式会社日本設計入社。

2003年榊田倫之建築設計事務所設立後、建築家岸和郎の東京オフィスを兼務。

2008年現代美術作家・杉本博司と新素材研究所を設立。京都芸術大学客員教授、宇都宮市公認大谷石大使。

2019年第28回BELCA賞など受賞多数。著書に『素材考―新素材研究所の試み』(平凡社、2023)、杉本博司との共著に『Old Is New 新素材研究所の仕事』(日本語版:平凡社、英語版:Lars Müller Publishers、2021)。
