TOMOYUKI SAKAKIDA

Born in Shiga Prefecture in 1976, Currently an Architect.

2001 After completing the Master’s Program in Architecture at Kyoto Institute of Technology’s Graduate School , he joined Nihon Sekkei, Inc.

2003 He established Tomoyuki Sakakida Architect & Associates, concurrently serving at Architect Kazuhiro Ishi’s Tokyo office.

2008 He co-founded the New Material Research Laboratory with contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto. He currently serves as a Visiting Professor at Kyoto University of the Arts and is officially appointed as an Oya Stone Ambassador for Utsunomiya City.

2019 He has received 28th BELCA Award and numerous awards.
His publications include Sozaikou: The Experiments of New Material Research Laboratory (Heibonsha, 2023), and Old Is New: The Work of New Material Research Laboratory (Japanese edition: Heibonsha, English edition: Lars Müller Publishers, 2021), co-authored with Hiroshi Sugimoto.
