The “P Sofa” was designed by architect Yuko Nagayama, who took the initials of Platform to serve as a platform for communication, and Plate to emphasize horizontal expansiveness in the design.
The idea was inspired by the desire for a sofa that would fit comfortably in Japanese architecture.
The result is a series of sofas that expand horizontally without giving an oppressive feeling, and can be used in everything from narrow houses to lounge areas in public facilities, freely and infinitely connected without being restricted by scale.
コミュニケーションのプラットフォームになるようにとPlatformの頭文字をとったPソファは、狭小住宅から公共施設のラウンジエリアまで、スケールに囚われることなく自由に、水平に、無限につながるソファです。
畳の上にも置けるソファが欲しい、というのがはじまりで、そこから最終的にどんなシチュエーションにも自由に合わせることのできるソファに発展しました。一般的なサイズの一体型ソファシリーズ、ひとまわり小ぶりなモジュールソファの2種類のシリーズ展開です。一体型ソファは住宅のリビングや、オフィスの役員応接などにも調和し、小ぶりなモジュールソファは和室や、組み合わせによって大きく展開できるので公共空間にも合わせられます。背もたれを低くし、空間の中で視界を邪魔せず水平に広がるデザインとしました。
